When people find out I am a photographer the first question they ask me is when did my career in photography began? So here is the dish…
When I was 8 years old, I received my first camera for Christmas. It was one of those 110 cameras, remember those? I used that thing for months until my dad got sick of taking the film into get developed and then replaced it with a Polaroid. Funny how at that time I had no idea how these gifts were shaping who I would be.
I rotated into my first photography course in middle school when I was 14 years old. I loved it so much; I was completely enamored by developing film, and using an enlarger. I continued to attend photography courses throughout my high school years. That’s when I met my mentor and my biggest champion, my high school photography teacher, John Bosler. This dear man was dedicated to making me the best photographer I could be. He was, and still is like a father to me. I am so happy to report that I still have lunch with him every month, and he is still cheering me on. Without him I know I would not be doing what I love today.
My professional career as a photographer began at local newspapers when I was a high school senior. This is where I developed my photojournalistic style. Shortly after that, I started shooting weddings to raise money for college.
I have been shooting weddings for almost 16 years now. I started shooting them full time after my daughter was born in 2001. I love my job. I get to share in the best moments of people’s lives and capture life, emotion, and love for other generations to look back on and cherish. It is such an awesome feeling to give people memories.
I am thrilled to be a part of this project, working with Joy, Pete, Sofia, Ryan, and Geoff is an opportunity of a lifetime, sometime I can’t believe how lucky I am to have such great group of friends! We can’t wait to choose our winning couple and document their day!
So that’s the story of Jenn Childress! Now it’s your turn. Send us your story!

My favorite photo taken of me. It was taken by longtime friend Pete Malone. Most of you don’t know but Pete and I have known each other since the fourth grade.
